Ladera Athletic Center – Ladera Ranch, CA

The Ladera Sports Center is a mixed-use four-story 120,000 square foot building with drive in parking on the ground level and a 62,000 square foot sports center above, accommodating eight indoor basketball/volleyball courts and food service commons. All basketball and volleyball equipment are hung from 190′ long, 9′ deep clear span steel trusses. The lateral system is exposed special concentric braced frames founded on large grade beams on highly expansive soil. 42,000 square feet of indoor self-storage space and 16,000 square feet of corporate office space make the project economically feasible. This state-of-the-art youth sports center uses a combination of brightly colored smooth faced and corrugated exterior metal panels, colored porcelain tiles, and clear and translucent glass. The 70,000 square foot roof area is covered with Solar Photovoltaic Panels
